Capstick Furniture was founded by Ian Capstick. Specialising in design and making purpose built furniture mainly for private clients, Ian has been in this industry from the age of 17.
During a 3-year College/apprentice scheme to a master crafts man in antique restoration, Ian restored high-end work for private and London Companies including the European furniture department of the V & A Victorian Albert museum. Ian is also skilled with repairing old selected timbers, chemically staining furniture as well as different hand polishing techniques.
Ian's favourite pieces of work include ones that involve historical interests such as the old Georgian style kitchen project.
We offer a personal service where we go out to a client's home or business and discuss their requirements and go through ideas together. We have a vast digital portfolio of different projects that we can draw reference to. From there, we take all information room measurements etc. back to the office and build it on A 3D Cad system, so clients visualise the project in their own rooms. It also runs cutting lists and requirements for each individual project.
Over the years, we've put in the database all our different timers boards colours and finishes. Our systems are designed to you teach how you build different systems like in frame furniture to modern styles, so it’s totally adaptable to any design.

Outstanding quality! Laid a new solid oak floor in my cottage which is really difficult to fit due to uneven sides, old radiators and skirting boards that are non removable. Ian managed to reshape the skirting boards to perfectly fit the wooden boards under them and contour the radiators - the result is perfect!!! And in such a short time - clean, professional, quick and meticulous. I cannot recommend him more! I am looking to have a bespoke kitchen made in my new extension and he’s definitely whom I’ll go to!
